The following is an exchange of letters between the school and a Mrs P... in 1938. It gives an insight into life in the school community at the time.
[Note: We have tried where possible to render the handwritten letters as they appear.]

Dear Sir

I am sending my boy S... back to you They did no good with him at the Convent Please be firm with him as he is a good boy if treated properly

S... is 10 years old on 23rd Dec 1936 was in grade 3 at the Convent.

Yours Faithfully

Mrs P...

Dear Sir,

Please cane S... as he will not get ready for school in the morning. He has no work to do and I am not well at present and he is taking advantage of it.

Dear Mrs P...,

I regret to inform you that S...'s conduct in school is so bad that unless there is a great improvement, I shall have no other course but to suspend him from school attendance.

He is most obstinate and disobedient.

I have warned him this morning and I trust that you will advise him to behave in a proper manner.

Yours faithfully

A J Mills Head Teacher

Dear Sir

I regret that S... is behaving badly I will be taking him to the hospital on Friday to have his throat seen to & I don't want to be hard on him until he is well again however we have given him a good talking to & if he is no better today I will keep him at home until after Friday Thanking you for your letter

Yours Faithfully

S P...

Dear Mr Mills,

Sorry I have got to do this. I have been very patient about the way my children have been treated at school, they have been accused of things they have not done which I can prove they maybe what you say they are but they Certainly are not liars, Which you have a great habbit of calling them Even to Young T....

That is one thing that I teach them To speak the truth no matter what it cost them.

Mr Mill you are not to blame for S...'s bruises, It is Mr Hagen they are not old sores which I am going into town to prove also to make a complaint about Mr Hagen. Miss ORielly better be careful or else she may loose her position as school teacher, also.

Yours Faithfully

Mrs P...
